Yoga focuses on developing one's core, balance, clearing the mind, breathing, overall strength and discipline with regular practice. All of these capabilities are needed in self defense. In addition, many yogis adopt Ahimsa meaning "not to injure" and "compassion." Being able to protect oneself in ways that inflict the least harm possible is a common goal. When it comes to protecting yourself, the focus is not to fight violence with violence, the focus is survival. This is a low impact class that is focused on how to survive an attack by applying specific survival strategies and learning how to create escape opportunities while at the same time preserving our energy; full of practical advice back up by psychological studies of predatory behavior and is designed to help you remain calm during an attack, teach you how to set healthy boundaries, heighten your awareness, create a personal safety plan, and how to avoid the fight at all cost.
